Wood Privacy Fencing
Wood Privacy Fencing by the Pros:
When it comes increasing the privacy, security, and value of your home, our gorgeous wood privacy fencing will transform your property in ways you have to see to believe. Fence Workshop™ builds each wood privacy fence on-site so they adjust to the slope of your land smoothly. This process allow our wood fences to avoid being stair-stepped (having unsightly gaps at the bottom of the fence line) like wood fence panels found online or at home improvement stores. At Fence Workshop™ we love new styles and client-inspired fence designs, so if you don’t see the fence you want, we would be happy to work with you on custom designs that will be both affordable and beautiful.
Our Wood Privacy Fence Installation:
Our wood privacy fences are installed by our professional installation experts with years of fencing and craftsmanship experience. Privacy fence installation is a craft that we take very seriously. Privacy fences should flow smoothly with the slope of your land, lumber cuts should be as tight as possible, and all posts and boards should be consistently vertical, horizontal or diagonal depending on the design. Also, posts should be accurately set in high-strength concrete, fence lines should be perfectly straight, nail tips should not be exposed, wood privacy fence gates should be properly engineered, hung and latched, fencing should conform to local or pool fence standards and all dirt and construction debris should be properly removed from the work site. Our skilled professionals are geared toward building quality fences that completely satisfy our customers.
Wood Privacy Fence Ideas:
When looking for unique wood privacy fence ideas, we have a few suggestions to help you get started. First, start by checking out the privacy fence designs we have provided, and see if there is any specific styles or features that you like. Keep in mind that we encourage our customers to mix and match different upgrades to come up with a unique design. With over ten common upgrades, there are literally thousands of possible unique designs. Next, we suggest checking out magazines for up-to-date design ideas. Most books on fencing will only have standard and outdated fence ideas, so home and garden design magazines are your best sources. In terms of online resources, a Google, Yahoo or Bing image search is another great way to find different fence ideas. If you find a fence you like, just send us an image or a link to a page with an image, and it will be our pleasure to provide our per foot price for supply and installation of that fence.
Design Your Own Unique Privacy Style With Our Wood Privacy Fence Upgrades:
- Exposed Posts/Inset Pickets
A fence with exposed posts simply has the pickets inset between the posts, rather than across the face of the posts. This allows the fence posts to be visible when facing the front of the fence.
- Fascia Boards
A “fascia” is a board that is placed horizontally on the face of the fence. These are used to frame the front of the fence and add asthetic appeal.
- Top Boards
A top board is a board that lays flat on the top of each privacy fence section. Most commonly, we use 1×4′s, 2×4′s, 1×6′s and 2×6′s for top boards.
- Lattice Top
The possibilities for a lattice-topped fence are endless. From vertical and horizontal lattice to traditional diagonal and custom designs, we can design and build any and all styles of lattice for your fencing.
- Cut Post Tops
Post tops can be cut any way our customers desire, but here are a few common ones: light dado, dual dado, french gothic and pointed.
- Post Caps
Our post cap options are seemingly endless, from copper and aluminum to solar lighted and stained glass. Give us a call or send us an email so our friendly staff can discuss all the post caps options with you.
Our standard wood privacy fences are built in either 6 or 8 foot heights, but we would be happy to work with you on custom heights to meet your needs.
- Lumber Upgrade
While our basic privacy fence lumber is our MCQ™ pressure treated pine, about 1/3 of our wood fencing customers upgrade to western red cedar. Other less common lumber upgrades include oak, cypress and bamboo.
- Seal & Stain
While all the lumber we use when constructing fences is either chemically treated or naturally resistant to rot and decay, we strongly suggest water sealing your fencing to extend the life and natural beauty of the wood. Sealing a fence should be done a few months after installation, when the lumber is well dried. Staining wooden fencing is another popular option that will allow your fence to be almost any color desired. By contacting one of our many project managers, they can provide you with pricing and different stain and seal options.
Our Wood Privacy Fence Lumber:
Most of the privacy fences we build are pressure-treated pine followed by western red cedar. Other special ordered lumber includes oak, cypress, redwood, ipe (iron wood), teak and bamboo. Many of our fences incorporate both cedar and pine, due to different advantages provided by each. Most commonly this is done by using pressure-treated pine posts when building a cedar fence. The advantage of this is the affordability of pressure-treated pine posts over cedar, and because setting cedar posts in concrete can cause water to pool and rot the base of the post. Three solutions to this problem include coating the base of the post with a resin-based moisture barrier, using metal sleeves over the base of the posts, or water sealing and wrapping them with a thick tape such as Tyvek Straight Flash™ or Vycor™. This should be done up to about 1″ above the top of the concrete.
Our MCQ™ pine lumber boasts a more natural look than other pressure-treated lumber. The treatment process is certified as an Environmentally Preferable Product by the Scientific Certification System. The lumber comes with a lifetime residential and agricultural limited warranty against structural damage caused by termites and fungal decay. The pine fence pickets come with a limited 15 year warranty (See warranty for specific provisions). Our pine lumber uses a copper-based preservative with a co-biocide and is building code compliant ICC-ES Reports, ESR-1980, ESR-2240. We suggest water sealing your pine fence no sooner than 3 months after installation. We do offer sealing and staining as an additional service. Read more about our pine fencing.
Our western red cedar lumber provides natural beauty and durability that lends itself well to any backyard project. It has a natural resistance to rot and decay and comes with a limited 20 year manufacture’s warranty. Cedar lumber varies in color from a red, golden brown, light blond and dark chocolate. A major advantage of cedar over pine, is the dimensional stability, meaning it is less likely to warp or change shape. While the application of water sealant is not necessary, it will extend the life and original beauty of the wood. We do offer sealing and staining as an additional service. Our quality bamboo privacy fence is a product we install and supply on a regular basis in the Southeast. Our Bamboo panels are finely crafted and built to last. Bamboo is a great option when planning and designing your privacy fence. As with all our fences, we offer many upgrades and it comes with our 5-year installation warranty.
